Welcome!
So you’ve found your way to Toil & Tomes, perhaps because Wicca fascinates you or perhaps you are a bibliophile like myself. Either way, its so nice getting visitors. 🙂
It took a long time for me to find a niche, so to speak. I’m passionate about many things, but there are two things that I do every day: live life as a Wiccan and read something. Since I couldn’t choose between them, I decided a blog dedicated to both was the way to go.
A few key facts about myself:
- I take books with me everywhere. In fact, I buy purses around certain specifications so I know that they will hold my books.
- I’ve been a Wiccan practitioner since I was 15 years old. Not all of that time has been an open experience, but with age comes wisdom and courage.
- I love to travel and am fairly outdoorsy. My two favorite places I’ve ever been are Miyajima, Japan and Glasgow, Scotland.
- I have BA in Anthropology with minor in Classical Studies focusing on the height of the Greek/Roman eras. I also have an MA in Public History, which is the archival preservation of artifacts and memorabilia while simultaneously providing public access. (I know, quite the descriptive mouthful)
And now, a little more about this blog.
Book Dragon:Â
Like many others, I’ve done away with the term “bookworm.” I have way too many books and I hoard them with an OCD-laced passion. (Seriously, I’ve been known to track down my younger brother because there is a hole on the shelf where a book should be). I’ve got bookshelves upon bookshelves, and quite a few boxes, and am happily on my way to creating the future library. Now I imagine it as the one you see in the Beauty and the Beast (which came out when I was seven), but to each their own.
The posts under this moniker will naturally be about books. I enjoy reading and in the last couple of years I have been trying to expand my genre horizons. I’ll be attempting to chronicle the successes and the numerous abject failures with updates, book reviews, and general musings.
Toil and Trouble:
I am Wiccan. I will be offering advice to beginner practitioners as following the Wiccan path can be overwhelming at times. There is a lot of information available, and not all of it is 100% clear cut as Wicca like most Pagan religions is very fluid. I will be providing reviews on books and articles I’ve studied or have found interesting. The areas along my path where I fail miserably, and those I’ve learned to find comfort within. But I will also be talking about the areas of my path where I continue to learn and grow.
Deciding to move forward with this blog was not a decision I made quickly. However, it’s a journey I am excited to continue. I hope to see and hear from many of you over the next phase of this adventure.
Blessed Be and Happy Reading!
